Project description:

The project aims to conservatively repair the material losses in the stone walls of the church. One major structural repair is the access to the bell tower. This conservation work will consider the preservation of the important key Baroque period elements of the church, including its massive buttresses, which form part as the outstanding universal value of the declared World Heritage Site.

Scope of the project:

1.          Mobilization and site preparation

1.3.       Construction safety and health requirements
1.3.1.    Installation of drop nets
1.3.2.    Provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
1.3.3.    Cordoning and fencing works
1.3.4.    Construction signage

1.4.       Photo documentation and terminal report

2.          Restoration of church, bell tower and masonry fence
2.1.       Surface preparation
2.1.1.    Mechanical cleaning
2.1.2.    Chemical cleaning
2.1.3.    Systematic dismantling and code marking of loose masonry units for re-installation

2.2.       Masonry consolidation and stabilization of rubble core          
2.2.1.    Injection of lime water
2.2.2.    Re-installation of loose coral blocks and bricks on church facade/rear walls and belfry surface
2.2.3.    Replacement of missing coral blocks and bricks
2.2.4.    Reponting, replastering and lime washing of walls

3.          Restoration of choirloft, pulpit, sacristy and bell tower’s stair
3.1.       Restoration works at existing choir loft and pulpit
