Project description:

The Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish church’s' original remaining component is the ruins of the belfry at its leftmost side, and the neo classical facade. Throughout the years, the church has been damaged by different typhoons, which only retained the said original components. The belfry was modified in the late 1970s to 1980 and was constructed with art deco style tower component.

In 2018, the parish initiated a full interior renovation of the structure including the rehabilitation of the roof. Due to the limited sources and lack of references that does not merit its full restoration, the HPD recommends the minimal intervention work to preserve the remaining original components. The intervention work shall be the limited cleaning and stabilization of the belfry and the original facade. Bells will also be restored to keep the structure in its functional state.

The Customs Building in Iloilo also called “Aduana” is designed by renowned Filipino Architect Tomas B. Mapua and was built in 1916 during the American colonial period. It is the second biggest Customs House after that of Manila’s which symbolized the importance of Iloilo City with trade and commerce in the Visayas region, most notably on trans-shipment of sugar. Today, the Aduana still houses the offices of the Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Postal Corporation.

The architecture of the Iloilo Customs Building is neoclassical like the Immigration Building in Manila, which is characterized by a tall square tower at the center of the building. It is recognized as one of the most beautiful Customs Building ever built in the Philippines.

The NHCP proposes to restore the Iloilo Customs Building and adaptively reusing it as a museum. Major interior works include dismantling of existing partitions, replacement of damaged/missing ornamental moldings, installation of new floorings, replacement of doors and windows, general repainting, plumbing, electrical and mechanical works.
