Project description:
Given the vast cultural property collection of the Archdiocese of Jaro, the NHCP proposed to convert the old convent of Sta. Barbara Church into an ecclesiastical museum. The two storey "bahay na bato" convent attached to the historic church was restored by NHCP in 2014-2015. The curatorial plan was to narrate the historical development of churches in the province through its old artefacts, under the care of the archdiocese.
Declared as a national historical landmark, the church and convent was used as a headquarters of "Ejercito Libertador," a revolutionary government led by Iloilo's local hero, Martin Delgado.
