Ongoing Restoration work at the Old Iloilo City Hall (now UP Visayas) [August 2018]

The comservation team found it hard to remove gypsum boards and adhesive from the sufaces of the main lobby. This hall will be restored to its marble-painted surfaces which have been badly damaged.

Restoration of wooden window frames


Wood planks were dismantled, checked from infestations, and returned to its original location. This two-storey room was the session hall of the old city hall.

Ongoing repainting work at the exterior

Restoration of the balcony fountain with an Art Deco-style head of a lion made of concrete. This feature is located at the rear side of the building.

Incompatible additions and architectural finishes were already removed from the building. Restoration of the architectural integrity of this Juan Arellano-designed building is the aim of the conservation work.
